Teck ToolKit #6
Motion Savvy
Two
days ago in class that I don’t like much, while working with classmates on a
project based on figuring out how can technology help students on different
abilities, I came across a website that will make my life so freaking
easy as a teaching who's teaching a student with deafness disability. I've
stumbled upon this amazing website called "Motion Savvy" which is
basically a commercial website for a tablet that's going to change the
lives of some many deaf people around the world.
so
any future due Motion Savvy is a world's first tow way communication software
for people with deafness disability. Motion Savvy was founded by a team of students
from Rochester Institute of Technology's National Technical for the Deaf.
Motion Savvy can translate American sign language into speech and speech into
text, it has special camera that tracks the location of both hands
and all fingers which helps when translating sign language into text. In order
to facilitate the hearing to deaf half of the communication Motion Savvy comes
with Dragon Nuance Pro, which is one of the leading pieces of voice recognition
software.
Motion
Savvy can help teachers perfectly communicate with deaf students to help them
learn better and understand well. Teachers can video tape the lessons and a
deaf student with a Motion Savvy can upload the lesson into his tablet which
will translate it for them without the need of special teacher or a helper. In the future schools should provide Motion
Savvy for students who have deafness, therefore those students don’t miss much
of their learning, and communicate with teachers and classmates.
