challenges within the education system

There are so many challenges that teache's face and have to overcome during their teaching years and with the subject that I want to teach, I know for sure that I'll come across many challenges. The challenge that comes with this context is one that concerns me a lot, and it’s not so much related to my classroom specifically, but in education systems we have teachers who are white teaching students of color without paying any attention to cultural differences. The conversation around racial equity is a concern. How are teachers being trained in teaching programs to work with students of color? How much information and what strategies do teachers learn in order to teacher students of color. The majority of English Learners are students of color. In Minnesota, the majority of teachers are white females with only 4% of teachers of colors. The students who are EL do not see themselves in the teachers that are teaching them, and I believe that every student deserves high expectations, high rigor and to be seen from an asset based as well as their cultures being appreciated. One other challenge is the idea that EL students belong to only EL teachers. EL students are general Education students first. EL students have the right to access mainstream education. EL students should be receiving instruction that is supplementing their mainstream education. EL students also have the right to exit EL, and this label should not follow them throughout their whole education.
