Tech Toolkit #2
Tech Toolkit #2
The tech I would want my students to use in my classroom is
called “Goodreads”
Goodreads is one of my favorite website of all time, basically
what Goodreads is a website that allows readers to freely search a book, read critical
responses about a book, see Goodreads extensive user populated database of a
book. Readers can sign up and register with their Facebook or Google Email to
generate library catalogs a reading list, they can create their own groups of
book discussions and suggestions. Goodreads gives readers suggestions for
future reading choices based on the books they’ve viewed or comment on. Readers
can save the books they want to read in shelves, they also can save the books they’ve
already read to remember and have a count of how many books they are reading
every year. How many times have you wished to know people who have read your
favorite book, or you wished to share with the world your thoughts about a book
you read? Well Goodreads gives you the opportunity to do so. I want my students
to share their critical thoughts, response about the books they read, in order
for them to remember latter what the book was about and what was their thoughts
on it. I want them to see what other people from across the world think about
the same book we read at school. Through Goodreads students can look at books
from different perspectives, and learn that not all readers see the same book
from one view. Students can read the book at home and write their discussions
publish it in Goodreads, and rate the book. Goodreads gives you the ability to
see what other people are reading, people like your teacher’s friends, and your
favorite authors. Me as a teacher can create class discussion based on the
books my students are reading in class, and grade their critical thinking that
they published.
Essentially social networking for readers! And you get an authentic audience for critiques!
