Tech Toolkit #4

Billions of people today use You Tube every day, and majority of students and all teachers are familiar with YouTube, and we all use it as day life basis, but the pressing question is do we use it for educational purpose? The answer would be “No” most of us use You Tube to listen to music and watch videos that might have nothing to do with education. So why not start using You Tube as an educational tool, where teachers bring educational videos to teach students something, or explain the lesson further more.

Student can listen to Audio books on You tube while doing dishes or cleaning, therefor they don’t have to wait until they are done with their chores. And if they have question and want further explanation after class they can find You Tube videos that will review and explain to them with the questions that they are struggling with.  As a student now I use You Tube to listen to free audio books, novels, and poetry performances. I also use to listen to literal lectures, watch review videos about the lessons that I’ve took or watch a summary of a book and get the sense of what to write about on repost reviews or answer the questions that I’m struggling with. You Tube might not give you the answers easily like Yahoo answers, but it will help you understand the lesson or whatever you searching for and give you information’s that will help your own questions.

Teachers can easily find videos to help them teach the lesson in some visual ways, and that helps the majority of students how are visual learns, teachers can also find lectures or educational movies, historical event that are visualized, and informational videos to help them with the teaching. Therefore, students don’t have to read the history book they can watch the movies and the documentaries on You Tube to learn the lesson.

  1. One thing that we have not talked about is the filter that is used in schools to protect kids. Many times, YouTube can be blocked. Teachers will need to download videos to a jump drive in order to share it in class.
